Congratulations to the eight student-athletes who were awarded scholarships for college next year.
The IAC Scholarships, $1,000, were based on nominations from the head coaches as well as an application and essay about what Eagles athletics has meant to them. This year, the IAC has dedicated one boy and one girl scholarship to long-time Independence Athletics support Jim Grimes, who lost his life last year. Mrs. Dawn Grimes generously matched the scholarships, bringing the amounts to $2,000 per winner.
The Coggins Family have support four $1,250 scholarships to students who applied and submitted essays about experiences that helped shaped their journey in athletics.
